MSU LEAF collecting old jeans

MSU LEAF Club is partnering with Sole Hope this February to collect old blue jeans.

Sole Hope is an organization that provides children with shoes made out of old jeans and tires. Providing these children with shoes helps to keep their feet clean and free of insects called jiggers. These jiggers will bury themselves in the skin of children's feet and have to be painfully removed before the bugs can cause life threatening diseases to the children.

The MSU LEAF Club is getting involved with this organization by collecting old jeans that will be cut up into shoe patterns at our jean cutting party at the end of the month. LEAF Club believes this would be a great way to show how the recycling of items that we may believe are old and gross, can be used to be made into another item for someone else.

There will be a drop off box in the Polar Bear room of the Natural Resource building or people may contact Kara Howell to arrange a pick up.

More information will be coming later on the jean cutting party but the first big task is collecting old blue jeans.
