Pre-harvest Oriental fruit moth management in peaches
Editor’s note: This article is from the archives of the MSU Crop Advisory Team Alerts. Check the label of any pesticide referenced to ensure your use is included.
Oriental fruit moth adult flight patterns over the last two weeks (based on the TNRC trapline in Fennville, MI) indicates that control of third generation larvae in some locations will be needed through the August peach harvest period. Site specific monitoring, using pheromone-baited traps along with visual inspection of fruit to determine infestation levels, is the best way to determine if control action is needed on your farm. The following table includes a list of insecticides, their activity on Oriental fruit moth life stages and label information relevant to pre-harvest spraying.
