Results from 2017 growing season trials available at Thumb Ag Reviews

Four locations in Michigan’s Thumb region will provide learning opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses.

Farmers and agribusiness professionals will have the opportunity to learn about the latest 2017 field trial research results during four Thumb Ag Review meetings in December. RUP, CCA and MAEAP Phase 1 credits will be available.

During the growing season, Michigan State University Extension educators have been busy in the Michigan’s Thumb region conducting research and demonstrations at farmer fields. The goal is to provide unbiased, science-based information that is practical and useful so farmers can make management decisions for their farm. Planned sessions for the meetings include corn hybrid trends; nitrogen rate studies; phosphorus rate trial; corn population trends; soybean yield and population trends; results from a five-year yard waste compost trial for corn and soybeans; reducing soybean cyst nematodes with cover crops; 2017 wheat trial results; an evaluation of field crops production profit and loss; and learning to recognize the stressors associated with farming.
