East Lansing, Mich.—The School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) at Michigan State University (MSU) is pleased to announce the launch of the Industry Seminar Series. The first event in the Series is slated for Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the Human Ecology Building on the campus of MSU in East Lansing.

The inaugural speaker for the Series is Ron Boji, President of The Boji Group. He will present on “Real Estate Development and Construction: Journey from Boji Tower to Present.” Boji has become a highly successful developer, construction manager and property manager, including owner of The Boji Tower (next to the State Capitol). He is also a 1993 Construction Management graduate from MSU.

The SPDC Industry Seminar Series consists of lectures and presentations by invited speakers who are industry leaders in the Built Environment profession. These seminars will take place twice a semester and will be followed by a reception and informal get together with SPDC students and attendees. Series topics include the latest developments and innovations in the field, along with success stories from the speakers. Many of the speakers will be alumni of the SPDC constituent programs: Construction Management, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Urban & Regional Planning. Joseph Maguire, President and CEO of Wolverine Development Corporation, and Society of Environmentally Responsible facilities (SERF), is serving as the facilitator of the Series.

According to Dr. Matt Syal, Professor in the SPDC Construction Management Program and Series Coordinator, “This series will be a tremendous asset for the SPDC students and faculty, because it will expose them to the latest developments in Built Environment through the activities of industry leaders.  This inaugural lecture is especially exciting, because the speaker is a Construction Management alumnus.”

This event is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place from 5 - 5:45 p.m. in Room 300 in the MSU Human Ecology Building. A reception sponsored by The Boji Group will follow the lecture from 5:45-6:30p.m.
