Emmaline Gates is a senior in the Fisheries and Wildlife department, concentrating in fisheries biology and management. She is originally from Commerce Township, MI. After graduation, Emmaline plans to take time to work and finish her undergraduate research. She will be applying to graduate programs this coming fall, and hopes to continue her studies exploring the roles that social and economic inequities play in food system sustainability. Her current research focuses on the biotic potential, or reproductive abilities, of the Asian parasitoid wasp, Trissolcus japonicus. Understanding the wasp’s biotic potential is important for evaluating its capacity to manage the invasive Brown Marmorated stink bug, as well as negatively impact native stink bug populations.
