Soil Academy 2013 enrollment is closed

Due to full enrollment, the registration for the 2013 Soil Academy is currently closed.

Michigan State University Extension’s 2013 Soil Academy scheduled for Sept. 11, 2013 has received a high level interest. The program has reached its full limit and the enrollment is terminated.  If you missed the enrollment this year, you are encouraged to stay tuned for our next offering.

The focus of this year’s program is on nutrient management with 4R stewardship practices.  The 4R Stewardship concept defines the 4 “rights” of fertilizer practices: the right source, right rate, right time, and right placement.  This program will feature speakers from the International Plant Nutrition Institute, MSU Extension, Crop Production Services, Agro Culture Liquid Fertilizers, Dekalb/Asgrow and MAEAP.  A nutrient management research plot tour is scheduled for the afternoon.

The Soil Academy was launched as a response to help farmers and industry professionals increase their understanding of Michigan soils with respect to current fertilizer practices, environmental stewardship and climate change.  Michigan crop producers are increasingly concerned about soil issues in their quest to achieve the highest possible yield and quality.  We hope to fill some knowledge gaps and help our participants make better informed decisions about managing and protecting their soil.
