SPDC Director Wins Prestigious Award

School Director, Dr. Ming-Han Li, received the 2023 CELA Outstanding Administrator Award.

At their annual awards ceremony on March 17, the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) conferred the recognition of the 2023 CELA Outstanding Administrator Award to Dr. Ming-Han Li of the School of Planning, Design and Construction. Dr. Li has served as the school’s director since 2018.

CELA is the premier international organization for educators in landscape architecture, making this a highly competitive award. One of Dr. Li’s peers on the 2023 CELA Awards Jury said:

“Dr. Li’s submission materials demonstrated a career-long commitment to building resilient, inclusive, and progressive landscape architecture programs that establish a benchmark for other programs to attain. His ability to lead a complex, interdisciplinary school is admirable and is a testament to his abilities and commitment to his administrative role.”

Another commented on Dr. Li’s:

“Remarkable, sustained leadership in numerous organizations, programs, and countries,” And his, “Proven administrative leadership despite some of the most difficult challenges globally and institutionally.”

Dr. Li has dedicated more than a decade of his career to CELA and its mission to encourage, support and further education in the field of landscape architecture specifically related to teaching, research, scholarship and public service.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award. Receiving this award is not about me but rather a reflection of the great colleagues and leaders around me who are dedicated to supporting us and making our school a better place for all. I also want to thank the nominator and letter writers who secretly submitted the nomination package,” said Dr. Li.

The School of Planning, Design and Construction commends Dr. Li and anticipates his continued excellence in leadership and education.
