Academic Program
Bull Racing and Protecting Pink Flamingos. Goat Herders and Biodiversity. Sweet Onions, Silk Production and Farmland Protection. Between the Mediterranean and the Mountains – from the Etruscans to Roman Arenas and the Crusades. Live, travel and study for five weeks in southern France!
From a rugged national park high above the Mediterranean coast, to the low-lying Camargues with its pink flamingos and bulls raised for racing, through the vineyards of the Languedoc you will live, learn and love how history, culture, the environment, people and animals all come together from farm to fork.
You will walk and talk with goat herders in the Cevennes National Park, learn about the connections between bull racing, pink flamingos and growing rice, and discover the challenges of protecting small farms while promoting tourism.
Enjoy Mediterranean beaches and think about this as a jumping off point for your own European vacation at the conclusion of the program.
