Personal interests

Maoz is a postdoctoral fellow in Kravchenko's lab at MSU with a primary scientific interest in soil architectural complexity. Maoz focuses on bridging physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms that drive soil structure dynamics by developing advanced imaging and analytical techniques. Throughout his graduate studies, he explored approaches for quantifying the effects of wet/dry cycles, soil salinity, and root exudates on soil structure by harnessing state-of-the-art imaging instruments (cryo-TEM/SEM, ESEM, AFM, and X-ray tomography) and innovative image processing algorithms. Maoz recently completed a BARD fellowship at Oregon State University, hosted by Prof. Dorthe Wildenschild researching how microbial activity in porous media affects pore architecture complexity and hydraulic properties.
