Cimberly Weir is responsible for establishing and maintaining all outreach educational activities for Michigan State University’s School of Packaging located in East Lansing, Michigan. This includes managing the industry education portfolio and online certificate programs. As the Associate Director of the Center for Packaging Innovation and Sustainability she is responsible for the daily activities of its members and researchers working on projects funded by the Center.
Cimberly has over 14 years of experience in the packaging industry. Her first 10 years were focused as an expert in transport packaging and testing. She has worked extensively with Fortune 500 companies in the Medical Device and Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Products, Food and Beverage, Industrial, Automotive, and Cosmetics packaging sectors to identify and mitigate field hazards in an effort to save time and money and build brand reassurance. An expert in transportation testing and simulation protocols, Cimberly has extensive knowledge of both ASTM and ISTA standards. As the School of Packaging’s Outreach Coordinator, she is responsible for managing educational opportunities for industry members around the globe which include online, on campus and custom training on various packaging topics.
Cimberly is a Past President of the West Michigan chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and a Past President of the Michigan State University Packaging Alumni Association’s Executive Board. In 2008, Cimberly received the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ first Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.
Cimberly and her husband Chris have two children, Camden 4 and Cora 1 and reside in Bath Michigan. She is currently working towards a Master of Arts in Higher, Adult, Lifelong Education from MSU.
