I am a development economist completing my PhD in fall 2013. My dissertation research uses quasi-experimental panel data econometric analysis (first difference, propensity score matching difference-in-difference and propensity score weighting) to overcome selection bias in an impact evaluation of an opt-in rural development project with multiple interventions in Nicaragua. In a related field experiment, I test for a project effect on trust levels among farmers. My MS research used math programming in whole-farm modeling of agroforestry systems in Kenya. I have experience at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF). I have taught development economics at undergraduate level in Colombia. At Michigan State, I served as president of the Graduate Student Organization of the Dept. of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics.
