Jane E. Severin

Since 2009, Dr. Severin has held the position of Vice President of Technology for Oliver-Tolas® Healthcare Packaging (OTHP), a global leader in packaging for the medical device and pharmaceutical markets. Dr. Severin leads a team of technical experts. Her areas of expertise include package development, barrier technology, sterile packaging, process validation, scientific and regulatory affairs, and sustainability. In this current role, Dr. Severin was part of an MSU/Industry Team which conceived of and implemented the Healthcare Packaging Immersion event held on campus in 2010 and 2011. Prior to joining OTHP, Dr. Severin held engineering and Sr. Management positions in leading companies such as Baxter Healthcare, Cardinal Health, Schering-Plough Corporation, Bayer Pharmaceuticals. She founded two consulting companies; PKG (Packaging Knowledge Group), specializing in sustainability programs and strategies, and Med Pack Systems, serving clients in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Since 2006 she has served on the MSU School of Packaging Alumni Board. She also taught an on-campus Medical Packaging Course for the MSU School of Packaging in 2006.
Dr. Severin earned a BS and PhD in Packaging from Michigan State University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Business. In addition to the MSU Adjunct Professor appointment, she is six sigma certified, holds 2 US Medical Device Patents and is an IoPP Certified Packaging Professional.
