Vibha Dhawan is the Director, Bioresources & Biotechnology Division, at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Her major interests are (1) commercial micropropagation, (2) biodiversity, and (3) transgenics.

Dr. Dhawan has more than 15 years of professional experience, mainly in plant tissue culture. She developed a technique to nodulate micro-propagated plants with Rhizobium and used it successfully with many tree species. As Scientist-in-charge of the tissue culture pilot plant, a major (2.2 million US$) project of the Government of India's Dept of Biotechnology, Dr Dhawan has been the guiding and driving force behind this state-of-the-art facility for tissue culture of tree species (now extended to many other plants including strawberry and roses). Her publications include 2 authored books, over 36 research papers, and many articles for the non-specialist readers. Dr Dhawan obtained her Master's and doctorate from Delhi University, Delhi.
