Michigan State University provides a number of competitive funding opportunities to students pursuing a Ph.D. in the plant sciences. Through funding provided by the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate School, and the Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) and Natural Sciences (CNS), we offer 1- and 2-year fellowships for Ph.D. students in the plant sciences. At present, these fellowships offer a stipend of $28,000 per year, and include a tuition waiver and health insurance. All students who apply for admission to Michigan State University through a plant science academic department (i.e., Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Entomology, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Biology, and Plant, Soil, and Microbial Sciences) will be considered for funding.
