Amanda Wakefield, a senior majoring in Landscape Architecture at the MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction, received a $2,000 grant from the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Undergraduate Research Program fund. -

It is a great honor to write this year-end message as I complete my first year of administration at Michigan State University’s School of Planning, Design and Construction. This year has been full of change and transformation for both SPDC and MSU. -
Michigan’s Twin Cities Sustainable Harbor project guided by NCI Charrette Ready Workshop

On Oct. 24, the SPDC's Construction Management Program hosted the Greater Lansing Area National Association of Home Builders PWB Council’s monthly meeting. This event served as MSU’s Professional Women Builders Student Organization kick-off. -
SPDC construction management students travel to Barton Malow to gain experience in Building Information Modeling

On Oct. 31, students in the SPDC’s CM Program and in the College of Engineering’s Civil Engineering Program had the opportunity to visit the Virtual Design and Construction Center at Barton Malow where students gained firsthand experience in BIM. -

Construction Management’s Dong Zhao receives 2018 American Society of Civil Engineers ExCEEd Faculty Fellowship

Dong Zhao, PhD, assistant professor of construction management in the MSU SPDC, was recently selected as a 2018 American Society of Civil Engineers ExCEEd Faculty Fellow and was invited to participate in the ExCEEd Teaching Workshop in June. -
MSU Construction Management graduate student earns $2,500 Irvin Yackness Foundation Fellowship to attend program in Washington, DC

Shay Chakraborty, a CM graduate student in SPDC earned a $2,500 fellowship from the Irvin Yackness Foundation, which enabled her to travel and attend an urban development executive program related to her master’s research at George Washington University. -
Beloved interior design professor April Allen dies

April D. Allen, assistant professor of interior design in the School of Planning, Design and Construction, passed away from a stroke on Sunday. -

In August, the MSU Construction Management Program in the SPDC was selected by the National Science Foundation to conduct research on “Understanding Impacts of Social Network Interventions on Engineering Project Outcomes.”
