Inspired Furniture Project: Geometric Cutout Chair

Author: Brittany Hackel

Class: IDES 250 CAD & Structural Systems

The geometric cutout chair was inspired by the Platner Armchair designed by Warren Platner and Cell Bar Stool designed by Anon Pairot. The chair [concept] was generated from taking a similar form to the Platner armchair and the cutout idea from the Cell Bar Stool. The chair was created from making three separate mesh objects for the leg, seat, and cushion and the smoothed to display softer and rounded edges. Once the mesh objects were created, they were converted into a solid and then attached to each other to create the overall chair form. Then, to produce the cutouts in the chair, 3D shapes were made and subtracted out to finalize the design of the geometric cutout chair.
