The Urban & Regional Planning Student Association (URPSA) is an MSU RSO and serves as the club for undergraduate and graduate students studying Urban & Regional Planning, as well as students of other disciplines who share an interest in planning. Our mission is to enhance interest in the field of urban planning; foster a sense of community between student planners and the broader planning community; and to provide educational, social, and professional development opportunities to MSU students. The success of the organization will increase the social capital of SPDC’s URP programs, creating relationships among students and enhancing students’ knowledge of planning issues and available opportunities.

The URPSA promotes professional development through job shadowing, alumni speakers and networking, community service events, and conference attendance. The URPSA members travel annually to state-level and national-level conferences. The URPSA supports travel to the Michigan Association of Planning’s annual Planning Michigan Conference as well as the Student Map Conference (SMAP). The URPSA also recently traveled to New York City in 2017 and New Orleans in 2018 to attend the American Planning Association’s annual conference.
