Dos Payroll Patches 2005

This patch is necessary if you are doing magnetic media on the 2005 tax year.

The patch for creating the magnetic media is a Wise Install application.

  1. Back up your 2005 Payroll program.
  2. Download this file W2Pay750.exe
  3. Note where you put this file.
  4. Click on this file.
  5. Follow the directions and point to your 2005 Payroll folder.
  6.  When your are finished open your Payroll program in the usual manner. It will show a version of 7.5.0. The W2 version is also 7.5.0.
  7. Selection 14 can be used to do the magnetic media.
  • If you have not printed your W2s and need vertical alignment, there is a new selection 21,1,3,5 where this can be done before you go to W2 printing.
  • You can download a program to check your magnetic media diskette. It is called AccuWage 2005 and is available at:
    http://www.ssa.gov/employer/accuwage/download2005AW.html
  • Once you have AccuWage installed, put your disk you made with the Payroll program in your drive.
    1. Open AccuWage
    2. Click on Test
    3. Click on Start New
    4. Put your Payroll file in your drive
    5. Point to the your W2 file which will be called W2REPORT
    6. Click on OPEN.

  • If there are no errors, you get a nice message in a box that will also have a link to submitting your file online.
  • If you have errors, a screen will show you employee by employee what is wrong. If you are missing a Soc. Sec. number or the number starts with the wrong beginning, these errors will be explained. Go back to Payroll, fix the errors, make a new W2 file and retest with the AccuWage. Do not submit your disk or file until you are error free.
