In Partnership with Novi Public Library
Toddlers and preschoolers, ages 2-5 years old, are invited to join us for stories and songs about life on the farm followed by the opportunity to engage in activities, such as process-based art, sensory experiences, experiments, and games. Who has a built-in comb? Who lives in a burrow? Who can sleep standing up? Children will have the opportunity to interact with featured animals to explore the answers to their many questions.
This program takes place bi-weekly over the course of the summer. A program fee of $7 per child includes the accompaniment of a caregiver and program materials. Children under 2 years old may attend with a program participant without a charge. Please contact the Early Childhood Coordinator if you are interested in receiving updates about our future early childhood education programs or if you have any questions.
Summer 2018 Schedule: Bi-weekly on Thursdays / 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
THIS PROGRAM IS FULL! Thank you for your interest!
Please note that pre-registration is required to participate in this event.
June 28 - Farm Animals
July 12 - Fun with Food
July 26 - Down on the Farm
August 9 - Exploring the Garden
August 23 - Mother Goose (with a wagon ride around the farm to celebrate the end of the season!)
Location: MSU Tollgate Farm, Children's Garden, 28115 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, MI 48377
Ages: This program is designed for children ages 2-5 years old with a parent/caregiver. Children under 2 years old are welcome to accompany their parents and join in with the story/animal visit portions of the program.
Gear and Clothing: Work and play at the farm can be messy, but immensely satisfying! Farm-friendly clothing is recommended. We encourage you to bring a picnic blanket from home for story time. We will provide some as well.
Weather: Story hours will be held rain or shine. If the weather is favorable, we will gather in the Children's Garden, otherwise, in the case of rain or soggy ground conditions, we will hold story hour under the pavilion.
Parking: Please park in the large lot adjacent to Meadowbrook Road by using the vehicle entrance at the top of the hill. Proceed to follow the signage by walking toward the silo and down the steps towards the Children's Garden area. A staff member will be available to direct and assist as necessary.
We look forward to seeing you for fun and learning on the farm this summer!
