SMILE Program

Start Making It Livable for Everyone

The SMILE program is a two-hour workshop for divorcing parents of children 0-18.

The workshop has three goals:

• to provide information to help parents better understand the effects of divorce;
  
• to help parents understand the needs of their children;
  
• to promote parents' and children's healthy adjustment to divorce.

It is sponsored by:

• Friend of the Court
• Circuit Court/Probate Court - Family Court Division
• Michigan State University Extension-Van Buren County

Call Michigan State University Extension at 269-657-7745, ext. 3207 or email Van Buren County MSUE to sign-up for a workshop. 

If mandated by the Court to attend, please have your case number ready when calling and be prepared to bring it with you to the workshop.

The Van Buren Conference Center is located at 490 S. Paw Paw Street, Lawrence

If taking I-94, get off at Exit 52 (Lawrence), go North on CR 365 (turns into Paw Paw Street), go about 1 1/4 miles.   The Van Buren Conference Center will be on your left.

If taking Red Arrow Highway, go into Lawrence to main light, turn South onto Paw Paw Street, go about a block.  The Van Buren Conference Center will be on your right.
