A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on macroeconomic principles and theories
as well as their applications to the agricultural sector.
It is designed to provide students with the basic macroeconomic
background which will be needed for more advanced courses offered in the
Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension. The course covers national
income and national products accounts, money, banking, inflation,
government budget and public finance; international trade, balance of payment
and exchange rates; and
Zimbabwe macroeconomic policy reforms and their effects
on agriculture.
B. COURSE ARRANGEMENTS
The course will consist of three hours of lecture and
periodic tutorials. The tutorials will be used for revising set exercises
and "take-home" assignments.
C. COURSE ASSESSMENT AND GRADING
The course grading and students assessment will be determined
by the following:
a) A final examination in November
carrying a weight of 70%
b) A mid semester examination carrying
a weight of 15§/o
c) Tutorial assignments carrying
a weight of 15%
