I.  INTRODUCTION

A. Overview of fruit and plantation crop production in Zimbabwe.  Nutritional value of fruits, factors
     affecting choice of fruits  to grow - climate, soils, water and altitude.
B. Orchard design and establishment: preparation of terrain, soils and water conservation, erosion
     preventive and control measures, windbreaks and planting systems.
 

II. TROPICAL AND SUBTROPICAL FRUITS

A. Overview of the tropical and subtropical climates as they relate to fruit production.
B. Specific crops: All the following fruit and plantation crops will be studied considering they economic
     importance, botany, propagation, development and physiology, agronomy, pests, diseases and
     marketing.
