Who We Are

4-H STEAM Corps is an AmeriCorps*State program hosted by Michigan State University Extension. It places full-time, half-time and quarter-time members in counties across the state to provide science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) programming to local youth. Members plan, implement and evaluate 4-H SPIN clubs and 4-H Tech Wizards mentoring sites. Additionally, they recruit, screen, train, place and support volunteers to serve as SPIN club leaders, 4-H Tech Wizards mentors, event volunteers and guest programmers.

4-H STEAM Corps is a collaboration between national service members and county 4-H programs to reach underserved youth and improve attitudes toward STEAM subjects.

For the 2019-2020 service year, 4-H STEAM Corps has members placed in Arenac, Bay, Calhoun, Eaton, Genesee, Gratiot, Huron, Ingham, Isabella, Kalkaska, Kent, Luce, Marquette, Roscommon, Shiawassee, and Wayne counties.

We are currently filling our Winter Corps and have open spots in Alger, Allegan, Clare-Gladwin, Presque Isle, Missaukee-Wexford, Oscoda, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties. Please visit the “How to Apply” page for more information about becoming a 4-H STEAM Corps member.
