  • Youth must be enrolled at the MSU Extension office as a 4-H Cloverbud by May 1, 2024 and be between the ages of 5 to 7 years old as of January 1st, of the current year.
  • A Cloverbud Fair Entry form needs to be turned into or postmarked the MSU Extension office by Sunday, June 23rd to participate in the 4-H Cloverbud Classes at the Clare County Fair. DO NOT complete the Fair Entry Form that is found in the Fair book.
  • Youth must have adult or teen supervision while exhibiting or handling their animal project(s).
  • Youth will be recognized in a non-competitive fashion. No premiums will be given.
  • Animals must be housed and cared for at fair all week (Sunday thru Saturday) or can be borrowed from siblings or other exhibitors that are already participating at fair. Exceptions: cats and dogs can be hauled in for the show only; swine can only be borrowed from another sibling or exhibitor. All animals to be used for Cloverbud Classes must follow Fair book entry and release rules and have proper identification and movement paperwork (Coggins test for horse and scrapie tags for goat/sheep)
  • Cloverbud Horse members must wear ASTM-or SEI-approved helmets for all 4-H Cloverbud horse experiences.
  • Cloverbud Home Arts projects will be shown during the Youth Home Arts Judging on Friday, July 19. Cloverbuds must be present to show their projects. Showing will take place at under the Grandstands at the Fairgrounds. Cloverbud projects need to be displayed in the youth’s 4-H club’s booth throughout the duration of Fair.
  • Cloverbud Animals will show on Thursday, July 27, starting at 4pm. The show will begin with small animals at the Small Animal Tent, horses at the Horse Arena, and livestock in the T-Barn.
  • Cloverbud’s participating in Record Keeping need to have their books turned in to the MSU Extension Building by noon on Tuesday of the Fair. The MSU Extension Building is located next to the Small Animal Barn. Record Books can be on any Cloverbud Project (regardless if the animal is owned by borrowed). Record Books can be found online at https://www.canr.msu.edu/clare/clare_county_4_h/record-books
  • ALL Cloverbuds participating in this 4-H Cloverbud experience should plan to be at the Cloverbud Award Ceremony beginning at approximately 6:30pm on Thursday, July 27, after the Cloverbud Animal Show is finished. This is when they will receive their trophies and prizes.
