We love our cheese! We provide a variety of cheeses made locally in our dairy production plant with our platinum award-winning milk from the MSU Dairy Teaching and Research Center! You can buy cheese in both of our on campus store locations: 1140 S. Anthony Hall or 107 MSU Union Building.

Cheese is provided in either 1/2 lb blocks or 1 lb blocks and can also be ordered online. Check the "Shop Online” tab for more details.

  • Aged Gouda Cheese


    A washed curd, cave ripened cheese crafted in traditional Dutch fashion. This cheese is made with milk from Kellogg Biological Station. We utilize this milk when the cows are entirely on pasture. Aged at least one year before it is available in-store.

  • Beaumont Cheese


    Not a true Gruyere, but, certainly a hard cheese in the Alpine style. Aged 1-2 years. Expect a strong nutty flavor with a slightly crumbly texture due to the length of aging.

  • Caerphilly Cheese


    A young brined cheese with a Welsh heritage. After aging 2-3 months this cheese has a bright, lemon-like character that compliments its firm, slightly crumbly body.

  • Cheddar Cheese


    By mirroring practices established in the cheese’s country of origin, our Cheddar is firm in texture with a rich, warm creaminess; manifesting a savory tang as the cheese is aged. Our Cheddar cheese is aged a minimum of 3 months to be classified as mild.

  • Cheese Curds


    Michigan State Cheese Curds are created in the process of making our delicious Cheddar cheese. A cheese curd is simply an un-aged piece of cheese in its natural form.

  • Chocolate Cheese Confection


    This fudge-like confection is a favorable blend of our finest cheeses with sugar and cocoa powder. Recommended by chocolate lovers AND cheese lovers everywhere.

  • Colby Jack Cheese


    The Michigan State Dairy Plant’s version of Colby-Jack upholds the familiar flavor characteristics you’ve come to expect from this American favorite. Colby-Jack is a mild marbled-curd cheese with a pleasantly pliable body and a clean buttery finish.

  • Dagano Cheese


    An invention of the MSU dairy. Inspired by Dutch cheeses Gouda & Edam; it is a brined, semi-soft cheese with a smooth elastic body and mild flavor. Like a Swiss, eyes form while aging and contribute to Dagano’s unique aesthetic. Sold after 8 weeks of aging

  • Grass-Fed Cheddar


    Our Grass-Fed Cheddar takes the same time-honored methods of production as traditional Cheddar, but uses milk from Kellogg Biological Station. KBS is a pasture-based dairy operation. We utilize this milk when the cows are entirely on pasture.

  • Pepper Jack Cheese


    If you enjoy a little kick in your queso, this Jack’s for you! We make a traditional Monterey Jack cheese with a balanced inclusion of Jalapeno Peppers for the right amount of spice.

  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese


    (See Cheddar). Aged a minimum of 12 months before attaining the classification "sharp."

  • Smoked Cheddar Cheese


    Our Smoked Cheddar is drawn from our inventory of Sharp Cheddar cheese. Expect the same full-bodied buttery flavor and savory tang of our signature Sharp, but with a pleasing compliment of hickory smoke.
