Talesha Dokes, Ph.D., reflects on Myrtle Craig Mowbray
Talesha Dokes, Ph.D., was the first African American woman to earn a doctorate degree in fisheries and wildlife from Michigan State University. Dokes reflects on Myrtle Craig Mowbray's contributions as the first African American woman to graduate from Michigan Agricultural College in 1907.

MENTORING THE FUTURE
Leading the Way
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, through several different programs, works to mentor beginning faculty, young alumni and students. In this video, you’ll meet a student, Ty’Carria, who is studying fisheries and wildlife; and Alexis Horton, who works with the Department of Natural Resources. Both women are benefitting from mentorship opportunities provided through the college’s Multicultural Apprenticeship Program, a summer program for high school students in Michigan.
