4-H Sailing Trips

Let’s go sailing! Explore science on a tall ship and learn the basics of sailing into Saginaw Bay!

Join Saginaw 4-H for an educational sailing trip this year with Bay Sail in Bay City.  

Participants will be fully immersed in learning in this sailing experience into the Saginaw Bay.  Once aboard youth will review safety procedures and then rotate through a variety of educational stations in small groups based on age. 

Each station will explore a variety of topics like water sampling, knot thing, invasive species, sonar dredges, analyzing sea life under a microscope. Youth will also learn about navigation buoyancy, weather, and wildlife and wetlands viewing Identify non-native species and exploring their impact on the Great Lakes.

Dates: 

• May 20^th (10:00am-1:00pm) YOUTH SAIL - Trips supervised by MSUE 4-H Staff and approved 4-H volunteers.
• June 3^rd (10:00am-1:00pm) YOUTH SAIL - Trips supervised by MSUE 4-H Staff and approved 4-H volunteers.
• June 8^th (6:00-9:00pm) FAMILY SAIL – Limited to one youth and adult per family.  Youth may bring one adult with them on the trip.  Adults are responsible for their own youth. 

General Information:

• Open to youth ages 8-19. 
• Youth will be placed in groups based on age.
• 4-H membership is required. 
• There is no cost to attend.  
• Space is limited.  
• Additional trip details will be shared with registered participants. 

Note: Participant names and emergency contact information will be shared with Bay Sail staff for ship manifests and safety.

4-H membership is required. Not a 4-H member? You can sign up for 4-H for FREE and register to attend this event. 

Important Note: Space is limited!
Please only register if you are 100% sure you will be attending the 4-H Sailing trip so space is available for interested youth to attend.  Registering and not attending limits the participation of others.

• SCROLL DOWN to the “4-H Sailing Trip” at the bottom of the screen.
• Click on blue registration tab to start registration.

 

NEW Saginaw 4-H Members:

• Create a family profile at https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in
• Select the “Saginaw County - General 4-H Experience”.
• Once your 4-H membership is approved (you will receive email notification), log back into your family account at https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in
• SCROLL DOWN to the “4-H Sailing Trip” at the bottom of the screen.
• Click on blue registration tab to start registration.

CURRENT 4-H Members Outside of Saginaw County:

• Log into you’re your account at https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in
• Click “View” next to the members name.
• Click “Unit/Club” on the left side of the screen.
• Click “Add”.
• Select SAGINAW County.
• Select the “Saginaw County - General 4-H Experience”
• Once approved (you will receive email notification), log back into your family account at https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in
• SCROLL DOWN to the “4-H Sailing Trip” at the bottom of the screen.
• Click on blue registration tab to start registration.
