Are you interested in local and statewide fisheries management activities in Lake Huron and want to discuss them with Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division staff? Then check out this upcoming opportunity to chat with fisheries experts!

On Tuesday, April 4 from 6-7 p.m. ET, Michigan State University Extension and Michigan Sea Grant, and the DNR are hosting a digital Conversations & Coffee meeting. In a Zoom Meeting format, attendees can ask questions related to fishing regulations and the state’s fisheries directly to the DNR. DNR staff will also share 2021-2022 information about local and statewide regulation changes impacting anglers in Lake Huron.

Fishing rules and regulations are updated annually based on information collected in the previous year. The Michigan Fishing Guide (2022-23 version) is published each year and the rules apply from April 1, 2022-March 31, 2023 (upcoming regulations for 2022-23). For regulation updates and to view the latest version of the MI Fishing Guide, visit www.michigan.gov/DNRDigests. Click on the current MI Fishing Guide to open it as a PDF file and save it to your device.

“This is a great opportunity to get input from Michigan anglers on new and proposed fishing regulations,” said Randy Claramunt, MDNR, Fisheries Division, Lake Huron Basin Coordinator.

In addition to the live event, the update portion of the meeting will be recorded, and the link to the recorded version will be sent to all registrants. However, attending the event is encouraged to have questions answered directly by DNR. Following the meeting, this recording will be closed captioned and uploaded to MI Sea Grant’s YouTube page.

Interested individuals can submit questions in advance by contacting Randy Claramunt (claramuntr@michigan.gov) or via the event registration.

Registration for this event is free, but you must register by Monday, April 3, 2023.
