Food Science and Human Nutrition Undergraduate Scholarships

FSHN scholarship applications are accepted and evaluated on an annual basis. The application is due by January 20. The application is submitted electronically.
Only one application is needed to compete for and apply for all of the scholarships described in the Master List, http://www.canr.msu.edu/fshn/undergraduate_programs/undergraduate_scholarship_opportunities/. You will be considered for the scholarships that you are qualified for per the donor criteria. Awards are distributed the following academic year (Fall/Spring). Thus, freshmen are eligible for scholarships designated specifically for sophomores, and sophomores as designated for juniors.
Award announcements are made in April each year.
You may wish to use a Word document processing program to prepare several sections and then copy and paste into the application, including the following:
- Achievements, Awards, Honors. (maximum 500 characters)
- Extracurricular Activities and Demonstrated Leadership. Include membership in organizations, offices held, volunteer services, and extracurricular activities. (maximum 500 characters)
- Financial Support. Include financial contributions you have made to your education. Indicate if you are employed, where, and how many hours/week.(maximum 500 characters)
- Personal Statement. Describe your career plans and how a scholarship award will contribute to your personal and professional development, summarize how your activities help qualify you for these scholarships (maximum 2000 characters)
Several of the scholarships require Supplemental Information. For example, Pediatric Nutrition Scholarships require a statement of career plans and preparation. The Food & Nutrition Association Scholarships require a description of club activities and suggestions to improve the organization.
One letter of recommendation is required, two are preferred. You will need to enter the name of the individual who will provide your letter of recommendation. Letters of recommendation can be uploaded here: https://events.anr.msu.edu/fshnscholarships2019/

Please note that once you start filling in the online application, you need to complete and submit it, because you cannot save an incomplete application.
