Join MUS Extension Food Safety Team Educators to learn about canning, current trends and safety practices, and how to preserve or freeze your tomatoes and apples.

Brought to you by Rauchholz Memorial Library, St, Charles District Library and Merrill District Library.

This workshop will be taught by an experienced MSU Extension food safety educator. Join us for all sessions or choose the topics that interest you.

Canning 101 Equipment and Myths

July 22: 6 - 7:30 p.m. EDT

Learn about the different canners that are available to use, including the Atmospheric Steam Canner and what foods they should be used with, canning gadgets and canning myths.


August 26: 6 - 7:30 p.m. EDT

Preserving Tomatoes

From freezing and canning, learn different techniques to ensure you have delicious tomatoes to enjoy during the winter months.  We will also discuss the importance of making salsa!


September 23: 6 - 7:30 p.m. EDT

Preserving Apples

Learn about freezing apples for pies and apple crisps and making apple sauce to freeze or preserve.
