Contact: Roscommon County Gypsy Moth: (989) 275-7135, gypsymoth@roscommoncounty.net

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE:

The Moth Busters Egg Mass Hunt is a family-friendly project, and we encourage families and neighbors to participate. While the project is open to all Michigan residents, Roscommon County youth ages 5-19 who complete the Moth Busters Egg Mass Hunt will receive a Moth Busters certificate and membership pin, and likely the gratitude of the community for helping manage spongy moth! They will also be entered into a drawing to win prizes!

DESCRIPTION:

Spongy moth is a non-native forest pest responsible for defoliating 1.2 million acres of Michigan’s trees in 2021. The Moth Busters Egg Mass Hunt invites the community to work together to responsibly harvest spongy moth egg masses before they hatch to help diminish the damage the caterpillars may cause. Learn more about the species at michigan.gov/invasives/id-report/insects/spongy-moth.
