MSU FCCP Mini-course Informational Session: Forest Certification and Climate Change

The Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP) at Michigan State University invites you to join us for an informational session on the mini-course Forest Certification and Climate Change on February 25th, 2020 from 3 - 4 p.m. EST. This session will provide a detailed overview of the course and provide interested participants with the opportunity to ask questions during an open Q+A.
This session will be led by the FCCP Program Director, Lauren Cooper. Lauren will discuss the goals of the course, demonstrate the online course space, and overview the process for purchasing and participating in the course. To register, visit our registration page. The session is scheduled for 60 min., though 20 - 25 min. will be reserved at the end for questions. This session will be recorded for those unable to attend.
About the course:
Forest Certification and Climate Change is an online mini course designed to provide learners with a robust understanding of forest land values and ecologic services linking carbon management and climate change mitigation activities with forest certification. This course is approved for 5.5 category 1 continuing forestry education (CFE) units by the Society of American Foresters (SAF) and approval by the International Society of Arboriculture is currently pending.
Graduates will develop expertise in:
  1. Valuing working forests for carbon sequestration
  2. Climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies in forest certification standards
  3. Climate benefits for forest certification in wood products
  4. Distinguishing climate benefits in chain of custody standards
  5. Ensuring climate values of harvested wood products (HWPs) through certification
