Many communities in Michigan are facing challenges meeting their housing needs. This 90-minute program from MSU Extension, In partnership with The Pokagon Fund, will discuss a wide catalog of proven zoning and policy options that can help increase the amount and variety of housing stock in a community.

To plan for and implement solutions to these housing challenges, it is important to accurately define issues facing your community and choose actions that align to those issues. This program will discuss zoning and policy tools that can help increase the amount and variety of housing stock in a community. We will present rural, suburban, and urban housing considerations and share examples from Michigan related to zoning regulations and policies that support ‘missing middle’ housing, attainable workforce options, and more.

Additional housing programs from MSU Extension for communities and individuals will be discussed and all participants will receive a handout of useful housing resources. Light refreshments will be provided. This program is made possible by a partnership between MSU Extension and The Pokagon Fund.

This webinar will cover:

  • Key housing terms and tends
  • Zoning and other policy options for meeting a community’s housing goals
  • Additional programs and housing resources
