Southwest Hort Days 2019 will be held Wednesday and Thursday February 6st and 7th, at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center in Benton Harbor, Michigan; hosted by the Michigan Grape Society, Michigan State University Extension and Lake Michigan College. There will be a trade show located in the Grand Upton Hall.
Educational sessions will be offered and will include RUP credits for many of the sessions. The educational sessions on vegetable production will be held Wednesday afternoon and will focus on helping growers get the most from their irrigation system. Tree fruit sessions on both days will be focused on training systems, growth regulators, insect, disease, and weed issues. A wine grape session on Wednesday morning, and two juice grape sessions on Thursday will cover a wide range of topic relevant to commercial grape growers. Blueberry educational sessions will also be offered on Thursday morning and afternoon. MSU Extension educators, fruit growers, and outside experts will provide informative talks and answer questions in these sessions. A wine showcase will be held Wednesday at 4:30 PM. The full program will be available on the SWMREC website. Trade show 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Registration begin 8 a.m., and Educational Sessions begin 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is by mail and is $45 per person; on-site registration is $60. Lunch for both days is included in registration. Registrations postmarked after Monday January 14, 2019 and at the door will be $60 per person.
