H. Paul Roberts Award for Distinguished Service in Study Abroad

Background
For more than 10 years, the H. Paul Roberts Award for Distinguished Service in Study Abroad Programs was awarded to recognize the contributions of individual faculty members and academic staff who give their time, energy and creativity to the development, implementation and support of CANR’s Education Abroad programs. Previous recipients represent a broad cross-section of the College and its programs.

The College also values the contributions of our partners—colleagues who become collaborators in the design, development and delivery of CANR Education Abroad programs. Between 2008 and 2014, CANR presented the Distinguished Partner in Study Abroad Programs Award to partners in Ireland, Germany, Costa Rica, Tanzania and Japan as well as support units at MSU.

In 2017, these awards were merged into the H. Paul Roberts Award for Distinguished Service in Education Abroad, which recognizes both the dedicated efforts of CANR faculty and academic staff as well as the sustained commitment of our global partners. In 2018, the award was presented to the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE, Northern Ireland) in recognition of our long-standing exchange partnership and collaborations. In 2022/23, the award was presented posthumously to Frances Kaneene to honor her many contributions in support of CANR Education Abroad programming.
