World Food Prize Essays

World Food Prize (WFP) essays focus on global food issues in developing countries. They are written by high school students participating in the WFP Michigan Youth Institute, a yearly event hosted by Michigan State University where students in grades 8-12 engage with local leaders and experts on critical global challenges, participate in hands-on activities, and explore exciting ways to make a difference on the topic of food security, in Michigan and around the world.  The top students advance to the Global Youth Institute, held every October in Des Moines, Iowa.

The WFP Michigan Youth Institute is takes place at MSU’s main campus in East Lansing and the Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center in Chatham. It is sponsored by the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan 4-H, Michigan State University Extension, and Michigan FFA.
