This course focuses on the history and current status of the Great Lakes, elements of effective management of these invaluable resources, and implications for the citizenry of the Great Lakes basin. By the course’s end, students will be able to evaluate status and trends in Great Lakes resources based on scientific data; assess management strategies for protecting Great Lakes resources; synthesize and communicate research about Great Lakes biology and management; and make an informed decision about a controversial issue, involving the Great Lakes biology & management.
