Horse Camp and Open Shows

Horse Camp

When: Friday, May 12 6-8pm and Saturday, May 13 8:30am-4pm

Where: GCFFY Fairgrounds (710 S Lincoln Ave., Alma, MI 48801)

Who: Gratiot County exhibitors ages 5 to 19

What: Friday night sessions will focus on gymkhana and include tack, general knowledge, moving horse parts, and drills. Saturday sessions will focus on pleasure and include showmanship, horsemanship, record books, leg wrapping, and a craft. 

Cost: $20 registration fee (includes t-shirt and lunch on Saturday), stalls are available for $20/night, camping is available for $30/night 

Sponsors: Gratiot County 4-H Horse Developmental

Registration: A google form registration link will be emailed to Gratiot County exhibitors in early April. Registrations must be received by April 28th to guarantee a t-shirt. Registration fees, stalls, and camping may be paid for upon arrival Friday night or Saturday morning. 

 

Open Speed Show

When: Saturday, May 13 - registration begins at 5pm, show starts at 6pm 

Where: GCFFY Fairgrounds (701 S Lincoln Ave., Alma, MI 48801)

Age breaks: Peewee, W/T, 12 & U, 13-15, 16-19, 20+

Fees: $5/class, stalls $20/day, tack stalls $10/day, trailer in fee $10/horse

Awards: All peewees are prize winners. Other age groups, 75% payback. 

Classes: poles, speed and action, cloverleaf, Indiana flag, down and back

Open Horse Show

When: Sunday, May 14 - show starts at 9am

Where: GCFFY Fairgrounds (701 S Lincoln Ave., Alma, MI 48801)

Age breaks: Peewee, W/T, 12 & U, 13-15, 16-19, 20+

Fees: classes $7/judge (double judged), stalls $20/day, tack stalls $10/day, trailer in fee $10/horse

Awards: All peewees are prize winners. Other classes $5 for 1st place and $1 for 2nd-6th place. High point awards to 20+, 16-19, 13-15, 12 & U, W/T divisions. 

Classes: Showmanship, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Western Pleasure, Discipline Rail, Horsemanship, E/W Riding Pattern, Reining, Trail
