Mojgan Nejad is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Forestry and Chemical Engineering Departments at Michigan State University. She has a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry and Ph.D. in Wood Science. Her Ph.D. dissertation, conducted at the University of Toronto, focused on “Modeling the correlation between coating properties and their weathering performance.” Dr. Nejad also holds a Professor (status only) position at the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Toronto. Her current research projects are focused on developing lignin-based adhesives, coatings, and foams, and most of them are conducted in close collaborations with industry partners. Dr. Nejad has won the 2018 Adhesive and Sealant Council Innovation Award for replacing 100% of phenol with lignin in the phenolic adhesive formulation.
