If there is a vanity domain name associated with your website (apples.msu.edu, for example), the Vanity URLs tab can be used to create short, customized URLs tied to your domain. 

To do this, you need to understand that a domain name such as apples.msu.edu is being redirected to www.canr.msu.edu/apples. This means the creation of a Vanity URL at /apples/something is effectively the same as creating a Vanity URL at apples.msu.edu/something. This is because apples.msu.edu/something will bounce to /apples/something which can then be redirected as a Vanity URL to a longer address.
