Estate Land Supervisor & Equipment Operator – South Kent, CT


Large private estate located in central western Connecticut seeks a full-time Land Supervisor to oversee idyllic farm land, wild spaces and planted landscape.

Rock Cobble Farm is a located in the picturesque Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. The farm is comprised of sprawling woodlands, hay meadows and pasture, miles of stone walls, formal French-style rose, cut flower and herb gardens bounded by boxwood and hornbeam hedges, woodland and vegetable gardens, expansive manicured lawns, orchards, greenhouses, historic houses and barns.

The Land Supervisor will work under the direction of the Manager, leading Grounds Staff in the development and meticulous maintenance of the established landscape and natural areas, excluding formal gardens. This includes soft and hardscape installation, irrigation, lawn care, fertilizing, overall plant health care, and spray applications. Will oversee a well-equipped fleet of machinery including excavator, tractors, skid steer, zero turn mowers, tree lift, chipper, sprayers, etc. The owner has a passion for plants and is very involved in the development of the gardens and land.


  • Direct team of 10-12 Grounds Staff, Mowers and Stone Masons
  • Ensure landscape is maintained to the highest standards
  • Oversee Mechanic and mechanical equipment
  • Direct invasive species control throughout property
  • Coordinate contractors for tasks beyond in-house capabilities (minimal)
  • Oversee classification of land use designations
  • Maintain detailed records


  • 5 years experience in estate or land management
  • Degree in Horticulture or Landscape Management preferred
  • Proficiency in heavy equipment operation highly desirable
  • Familiarity with turf management
  • Excellent supervisory and communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and keen observation
  • Must be energetic and dynamic and work well as part of a team
