Description:

Stargate Manor Arboretum is looking to hire an Executive Director of Horticulture to help develop & manage 200 acre estate garden located 45 miles northwest of Houston, Texas. Our plant collections focus on cold hardy palms, lotus and water lily aquatic gardens, & flowering trees, shrubs, vines , and ground cover.

We are seeking an individual with 10 years plus experience managing large estate & public gardens. Pay and benefits commensurate with experience and education.

Education -Bachelors of Science or Master's Degree in botany, horticulture, natural resource conservation or a related field

Work Experience - 10+ years of supervisory and budgetary oversight experience in an applied horticulture setting such as a public or private botanical garden, arboretum, estate gardens

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility - $1.5 Million
