They are tested on these subjects at the end of the program. Interns (10 weeks) and apprentices (6 months) are paid hourly and may earn college credit. HOW TO APPLY

Complete a program Application and submit with items listed below.

Internships
Cover letter, transcripts and three letters of recommendation. Please state the preferred program schedule.

Apprenticeships
The procedures are the same as for the intern application. Please state the preferred program schedule. Apprentices must have completed at least one internship at another public garden or have significant hands-on horticultural work experience.  Apprentices are required to do an independent project, after completing a ten-week training program (equivalent to the internship program), in addition to rotating throughout the garden areas a second time.

Deadline for Application
We receive and process applications for the garden internship and apprenticeship programs year-round. Since we have a limited number of spaces for each program, we recommend that students apply at least one month before the start date of the internship/apprenticeship. Our summer program is the most competitive and applications should be submitted by May 1 at the latest. Early applications will receive earlier consideration. Later applications are permitted, but the program sometimes fills before the deadline.

International Applicants for Garden Internships and Apprenticeships
International applicants must submit an application, while simultaneously applying through an international exchange program like Cultural Homestay International (www.chinet.org). Applications must be received six months prior to the program of interest.
