Graduate Research Assistantship - Mississippi State University

The Forest Ecology Lab (https://www.schulzforestecolab.com) in the Department of Forestry at Mississippi State University is seeking applicants for one funded M.S. assistantship. The successful applicant will be working with Dr. Ashley Schulz on research broadly focused on forest ecology, forest health, restoration ecology, fire ecology, and/or hardwood or pine management in the southeastern United States.

Qualifications

This position requires an individual who is: 1) self-motivated and can work independently or collaboratively; 2) has a strong desire and passion to learn about the ecology and management of forests, forest disturbance ecology, forest restoration, etc.; 3) has attained [or will attain by December 31, 2021] a bachelor’s degree in forestry, ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field from an accredited university; 4) meets all admissions requirements to the Master of Science program in the Department of Forestry at Mississippi State University (http://catalog.msstate.edu/graduate/colleges-degree-programs/forest-resources/forestry/); and 5) has demonstrated proficiency communicating in English. Prior experience or interest in contributing to field- and/or lab-based research is desired.

Salary and Benefits

Master’s level graduate research assistantships include an annual stipend of $15,000, a full tuition waiver, and reimbursement of medical insurance. Assistantships may require a mixture of research and teaching duties.
