Very popular hotel on Mackinac Island seeks an exceptionally talented Grounds Manager to oversee the care and maintenance of its magnificent grounds sprawling over 15+ acres of land. With the support of a staff of ~10 full-time employees (including 3 supervisors) and a complete collection of tools and equipment, this is a hands-on working management role. Responsibilities will encompass care of the lawns, shrubs, and trees, including cutting, fertilizing, and pruning; the planting, weeding and general care of the flowers-- pots and beds; maintenance & care of many greens & ponds; operation & maintenance of the irrigation system; spring annual plantings; tree & shrub removal as needed. Small landscaping projects will also be involved.

A Bachelor’s degree in horticulture is highly desirable. The ideal candidate is a creative landscaping expert with previous employment as a Manager overseeing the grounds and respective staff, of a very large, luxurious facility with a campus like setting. In addition, the Manager will have outstanding management skills, training and team building expertise and excellent budget and payroll management experience.

In addition to an excellent compensation and benefit package, this individual is offered housing on the property. The Grounds Manager can work on site 12 months/year or work 2-3 months remotely during the winter season and on-site the remainder of the year. Housing is available year round and meals are provided during the season. Families can be accommodated.
