Entomology Lab Assistant Positions Available
The Landis Insect and Landscape Ecology lab is seeking applicants to assist in processing soil arthropod samples throughout the fall semester. This work is part of a larger research project through the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center investigating the multi-trophic effects of arthropods on soil carbon sequestration in bioenergy cropping systems. Applicants should be comfortable working in a lab setting and using microscopes, as well as show independence and motivation to learn. Students with coursework, experience or career plans in entomology, invertebrate zoology, ecology or related fields and arthropod identification skills are preferred. Primary responsibilities will include sample processing, separating specimens into morpho-groups, soil arthropod identification, and data entry. Work schedules and hours are flexible to work with applicants’ course schedules, though a minimum of 10 hours per week is preferred. Wages are based on experience but begin at $11 per hour.
