This position is located with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Beltsville, Maryland.
Duties
- Identify mechanisms of pathogenicity and virulence.
- Utilize Genetic, molecular biological and omic approaches to meet these objectives.
- Develop and utilize molecular markers in studies of gene regulation and function during microbial interactions with plants.
- Transfer knowledge learned to researchers in both basic and applied aspects of disease management.
- Continually advance molecular biology techniques required for genome and transcriptome analysis including RNA extraction and analysis, QPCR, etc..
Perform genome analysis and other new and contemporary technologies. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting cellular and molecular studies on tropical perennial plants and pathogens. You will identify and evaluate plant disease resistant genes and gene combinations for the potential of controlling diseases related to priority tropical crops such as coffee or cacao.
