North America and Corporate Lead Position - Forest Carbon and Climate Program, Michigan State University

What will you do? You will spearhead a major new initiative to bring needed science, policy, and dialogue to state-level decision-makers and the private sector. This will require development new networks, serving as a liaison between diverse forest stakeholders, contributing to FCCP research, writing proposals, and developing your own portfolio of projects exciting to you and the team.

What is the FCCP?  The FCCP is a growing, diverse, and inspired team. We are forest ecologists, statisticians, political ecologists, economists, communications experts, and visual designers who are all motivated to produce impactful research, liaison between and fill key knowledge gaps among diverse stakeholders and contribute to policy-relevant conversations about forest carbon and climate.

What will help you get this job?

  • Concrete experience in the politics, economics, and science of forests, sustainability, ESG, carbon management, and/or climate change mitigation (likely some magical combination of the above)
  • An ability to turn that experience into a growing portfolio of impactful initiatives and outputs
  • Excellent leadership skills to spearhead projects, grant applications, and network-building
  • An ability to communicate with and learn from diverse audiences
  • An appreciation for collaborative work, an open mind, and an always learning outlook
