Part-time Undergraduate Research Assistant in Cereal Abiotic Stress Biology

Title: Undergraduate Research Assistant
Type: Part-time during fall (10-20) hours per week to be filled during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm), we can work around class schedules.

Job qualifications: Current MSU student.
Must have strong organizational skills, basic
computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.), and the
ability to effectively communicate and multitask. Must be meticulous, punctual, and reliable. A strong interest in learning new things related to plant biology and plant resilience.
Job description: The successful candidate will be working with Graduate Research Assistants, Postdoctoral Researchers, Research Assistants, and other Undergraduate Laboratory Assistants performing plant research as part of a team at MSU investigating the role that orphan grain crops can play in plant resilience.
The activities performed will include but are not limited to: growth chamber and greenhouse work, seed collection, sample processing for physiology and systems biology, plant evaluation, plant growth and maintenance, tissue culture, and data collection. In addition, the student will have the opportunity to learn about stress tolerance in several cereal species and their responses to drought and other abiotic stresses. This position can extend beyond the summer depending on funding and student interest. Student will receive laboratory training and EHS safety training.
