Research Assistant in Field Crops Entomology

Full time in summer 2018; possibility of part-time in fall 2018


I am looking for a student to do sampling, scouting and trapping as part of several research projects this summer. 1) Biology and management of the invasive Asiatic garden beetle in corn and soybean and 2) Developing stink bug thresholds in soybean. This research involves taking and sorting soil, plant and insect samples from plots and farmer fields. This position is ideal for someone who likes to be outdoors and work with plants and critters. **Note: If you are taking the ENT 404 course in the fall, this is an ideal summer job!

REQUIRED: Valid drivers license (driving is a must!). Interest and ability to work with insects, in and around fields, in varying types of weather. Must be able to work independently. DESIRED: Course work in entomology, agriculture, or horticulture is very useful.
